Arestado ang dalawang indibidwal at tinatayang Php810,000 halaga ng ilegal lumber ang narekober sa isinagawang operasyon laban sa ilegal na pagtotroso sa bulubunduking bahagi ng B1 Area, KM 38, Brgy. Pakwan, Lanuza, Surigao del Sur noong Oktubre 7, 2026.
Ayon kay PBGen Rolindo M. Suguilon, Regional Director ng Police Regional Office 13, pinangunahan ng Regional Intelligence Division 13, ang operasyon sa pakikipag-ugnayan sa 1302nd Maneuver Company ng Regional Mobile Force Battalion 13, Lanuza Municipal Police Station, at Department of Environment and Natural Resources – Regional Enforcement Unit.
Ang mga naaresto ay kinilala sa alyas na “Juvie,” 39 taong gulang, residente ng San Miguel, at “Jerome,” 33 taong gulang, residente ng Tandag City, pawang residente ng Surigao del Sur na nahaharap sa paglabag sa Presidential Decree No. 705 o Revised Forestry Code of the Philippines.
Nasamsam ng mga operatiba ang tinatayang 18,000 board feet ng lauan, yakal, at tangili, gayundin ang isang asul na RUSI chariot na pinaniniwalaang ginamit sa pagdadala ng mga produktong mula sa kagubatan.
“We will continue to strengthen our operations, together with our partner agencies, against illegal logging and other activities that threaten our forests and natural resources. We will also ensure that those involved in the illegal exploitation of our forests are held accountable under the law,” pahayag ni PBGen Suguilon.
