Aabot sa Php278,400 halaga ng smuggled na sigarilyo ang nasamsam ng mga awtoridad na nagresulta sa pagkakaaresto ng suspek sa ikinasang operasyon sa Lopez Jaena, Misamis Occidental nito lamang gabi ng Abril 26, 2026.
Ayon kay Police Brigadier General Christopher N Abrahano, Regional Director ng Police Regional Office 10, naging matagumpay ang operasyon dahil sa pagtutulungan ng mga tauhan ng Provincial Intelligence Unit–Misamis Occidental Police Provincial Office sa ilalim ng liderato ni Police Colonel Reynaldo M Maclang, Provincial Director, katuwang ang Lopez Jaena Municipal Police Station, Plaridel Maritime Law Enforcement Team, at MARPSTA–Misamis Occidental na nagresulta sa pagkakakumpiska ng 132 reams ng Rasen Gold, 30 reams ng Berlin Red, 66 reams ng Astro Red, 14 reams ng San Diego, 39 reams ng Royal White, 15 reams ng Carnival Red, 48 reams ng Shelby at apat na reams ng Cannon na tinatayang nagkakahalaga ng Php278,400.
Nabatid na itinago sa abandonadong bahay ang smuggled na mga sigarilyo na nagresulta sa pagkakadakip ng suspek na kinilalang si alyas “Emer,” a 24 anyos, may-asawa, residente ng Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte at nahaharap sa kasong paglabag sa Republic Act No. 10643 o ang Graphic Health Warnings Law, at Republic Act No. 10863 o ang Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.
“Our operation against smuggling in the region is not just about confiscation—it is about protecting government revenue, dismantling illegal networks, and upholding the rule of law. We will continue to intensify our efforts to safeguard our communities,” saad ni RD Abrahano.
