Nasabat ng mga operatiba ng Police Regional Office 9 ang tinatayang Php1.7 milyong halaga ng hinihinalang shabu sa ikinasang buy-bust operation sa Purok 4, Barangay Malagutay, Zamboanga City nito lamang Hulyo 28, 2026.
Kinilala ni Police Brigadier General Dennis A Esguerra, Acting Regional Director, PRO 9, ang suspek na isang native ng Jolo, Sulu, at kasalukuyang nakatira sa Barangay Talon-Talon, Zamboanga City na nakuhanan ng nasa 250 gramo ng hinihinalang shabu na nagkakahalaga ng Php1.7 milyon, iba pang non-drug items at nahaharap sa kasong paglabag sa Republic Act No. 9165 o ang Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Naging matagumpay ang operasyon dahil sa pagsisikap ng mga tauhan ng Regional Drug Enforcement Unit 9, Naval Intelligence Security Group–Western Mindanao, PNP Drug Enforcement Group–Special Operations Unit 9, 1st Special Operations Unit of the Maritime Group, 904th Regional Mobile Force Battalion 9, Zamboanga City Maritime Police Station, PNP Special Action Force, at Zamboanga City Police Station 8.
“This successful operation reflects the commitment of PRO 9 to dismantle illegal drug networks and hold accountable those who continue to threaten the safety and well-being of our communities. We remain steadfast in pursuing high-value drug personalities through intelligence-driven operations and strengthened inter-agency collaboration. We also encourage the public to continue supporting our anti-illegal drug campaign by reporting suspicious activities, as we work together toward a safer, drug-free Zamboanga Peninsula and Sulu Province. PRO 9 remains relentless in its campaign against illegal drugs and all forms of criminality. In line with the Chief, PNP mantra na “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat, at Nararamdaman,” saad ni PBGen Esguerra.
