Arestado ng mga tauhan ng Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDG) Quezon Provincial Field Unit ang isang suspek na nagpapanggap umanong tauhan ng CIDG sa isinagawang entrapment operation nitong October 21, 2025, sa Barangay Ibabang Dupay, Lucena City, Quezon.
Kinilala ni Police Major General Robert A Morico II, Acting Director ng CIDG, ang suspek na si “Edgar”, 35 years old, at residente ng Barangay Mayao Castillo, Lucena City, Quezon.
Naaresto si Edgar matapos umano itong magpakilala bilang tauhan ng CIDG Quezon sa isang babaeng biktima. Dahil dito nagpatulong ang biktima sa suspek kung paano maghain ng complaint.
Hiningan umano ng suspek ang biktima ng Php5,000 kapalit ng tulong na tiniyak pa ang guarantees conviction sa hahainan ng complaint. Agad namang nagpadala ang biktima gamit ang kaniyang GCash account.
Ngunit nanghingi pa ng karagdagang halaga ng pera ang suspek sanhi ng paghihinala ng biktima at pagreport nito sa mga awtoridad kung saan napatunayang hindi siya aktibong tauhan ng PNP at nagpapanggap lamang.
Narekober sa naarestong suspek ang iba’t ibang mga fake CIDG Identification Cards, na maaaring ginamit sa parehong mga modus operandi.
Nahaharap ngayon ang suspek sa kasong paglabag sa Articles 294 (Robbery/Extortion) at 177 (Usurpation of Authority or Official Functions) ng Revised Penal Code.
“I commend PLtCol Ganaban C Ali, the Regional Chief of the CIDG Regional Field Unit 4A, and the CIDG Quezon Provincial Field Unit led by its Provincial Chief, PLtCol Rix S Villareal, for the successful arrest of this suspect disguising as CIDG member and allegedly extorting money. With his arrest we significantly prevented future crimes; protected would be victims; and made him accountable for the crime he allegedly committed. Maraming salamat sa inyo,” saad pa ni PMGen Morico.
“Rest assured that the CIDG is steadfast in enforcing the law and unyielding against all criminals and violators. The CIDG assists all the complainants and victims without payment or monetary consideration. We urge the public to transact business or complaints to organic personnel of the Unit, and to report immediately any suspicious or illegal activities just like the modus operandi of the suspect, and the CIDG will do the rest,” dagdag pa niya.
