Nasabat ang nasa Php640,000 halaga ng hinihinalang smuggled na sigarilyo sa magkahiwalay na checkpoint operation ng mga awtoridad sa Iligan City, Lanao del Norte nito lamang Agosto 3, 2026.
Ayon kay Police Brigadier General Christopher N Abrahano, Regional Director ng Police Regional Office 10, naaresto sina alyas Waler, 27 anyos, may-asawa; alyas Jaki, 17 anyos, single, pasahero, pawang residente ng Zamboanga Sibugay na nakuhanan ng 500 reams ng Greenhill Menthol cigarettes (white at green packaging) na may halaga na aabot sa Php400,000; at si alyas Rini, 44 anyos, may-asawa, residente ng Lanao del Sur na nakuhanan ng 300 reams ng Modern cigarettes (red packaging) na may halaga na aabot sa Php240,000 at nahaharap sa kasong Republic Act No. 10863 o ang Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.
Naging matagumpay ang operasyon dahil sa pagsisikap ng mga tauhan ng Lanao del Norte 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company, 1005th Maneuver Company, Regional Mobile Force Battalion 10 (RMFB 10), Iligan City Police Station 2, Iligan City Mobile Force Company, Iligan City Intelligence Unit at Task Force Iligan ng 2nd Mechanized Brigade, Philippine Army.
“We will not allow Northern Mindanao to become a transit point or marketplace for illegal contraband. These operations demonstrate our uncompromising stance against smuggling, which undermines our economy and public health. I commend our officers for their vigilance, and I assure the public that PRO10 will remain relentless in enforcing the law and securing our borders,” saad ni RD Abrahano.
