Si Azurin ay bahagi sa Philippine Military Academy (‘Makatao’ Class of 1989) at ang kasalukuyang commander ng Northern Luzon Area Police Command kung saan nasasakupan nito ang Ilocos (Region 1), Cagayan Valley (Region 2), Central Luzon (Region 3) at ang Cordillera Administrative Region.

Siya ay dati na ring commander ng Southern Luzon Area Police Command na kinabibilangan naman ng mga rehiyon ng CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) – Region 4-A; MIMAROPA (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) – Region 4-B at Bicol (Region 5).

Isa sa mga natatanging lider ng Philippine National Police na naglingkod sa iba’t ibang opisina ng pambansang pulisya, mapa police operation man o administrative work.

Umupo rin sya sa mga pangunahing star-rank position sa Camp Crame bilang Direktor ng Directorate for Comptrollership (DC) at ng Directorate for Information and Communication Technology Management (DICTM).

Bilang bagong heneral, si Azurin ay naging Direktor ng Maritime Group at kalaunan naging Regional Director ng Police Regional Office 1 sa Ilocos.
