Leader of Ameril Private Armed Group and the Remaining Four (4) Members Voluntarily Surrendered in Talitay, Maguindanao – In line with the preparation for the forthcoming May 9, 2022 National and Local Elections, PRO BAR- RTG-DPAGs led by PCOL JEFFREY S FERNANDEZ, DRDO/Focal Person; Regional Intelligence Division; Maguindanao Police Provincial Office; Regional Intelligence Unit 15; 1st Mechanized Brigade Armored Division – Philippine Army; and Talitay Municipal Police Station, facilitated the voluntary surrender of the remaining four (4) members of the Ameril Private Armed Group including its leader held at Talitay MPS, Brgy. Poblacion, Talitay, Maguindanao on March 23, 2022.

Along with the surrenderers were their firearms: one (1) Unit M14 rifle; one (1) Unit Ultimax (5.56) rifle; one (1) unit M16 A1 rifle (Elisco); one (1) unit Homemade Grenade Launcher; and one (1) unit M1 Carbine.

Last December 1, 2021, Six (6) member of the same group already surrendered which was held at Maringal Lounge, PRO BAR.

“Tapat ang aming intensyon, at isa sa aming hinahangad ay walang iba kundi mamuhay nang walang panganib at karahasan, at kami ay handang makipagtulungan at makibahagi sa pagkumbinsi sa iba pang mga miyembro ng Pribadong Armed Groups upang sumuko at makamit ang isang payapa at maayos na halalan para sa aking kapwa sa Bangsamoro,” Sidik Ameril, stated.

Surrendered firearms will be subjected to the Regional Civil Security Unit for verification and subsequently be turned over to the Regional Forensic Unit – BAR for ballistics and cross-matching examinations for proper disposition.

Sidik Ameril, leader and former Assemblyman of the 2nd District of Maguindanao Province under UNA Party, and the remaining four (4) members expressed their willingness to surrender in order to clear their names from the PNP DI-List of active PAGs and provide their locality with a secure, accurate, fair and free 2022 National and Local Elections.

PCOL JEFFREY S FERNANDEZ, Deputy Regional Director for Operations, PRO BAR, reiterated that PRO BAR is committed in addressing private armed groups in the Bangsamoro Region to achieve a peaceful and prosperous community. He also addressed the other members of private armed groups to lay down their arms, return to the fold of the law, cooperate with the government, and live peacefully in the community.

Meanwhile, PBGEN Arthur R. Cabalona, Regional Director, PRO BAR, lauds the police operatives efforts that resulted in the successful and peaceful surrender of the aforementioned private armed group.
