Leyte – Boluntaryong sumuko ang isang miyembro ng Communist Terrorist Group sa mga tauhan ng Leyte Police Provincial Office sa Brgy. Mataloto, Leyte nito lamang Linggo, Oktubre 9, 2022.
Kinilala ni Police Colonel Edwin C Balles, Provincial Director, ang sumuko na si alyas “Bitoy” na naging ganap na miyembro ng CTG/NPA/NDF noong Mayo 1992 sa ilalim ni Ka Maning – Efren Martires Command Under Nepal Unit na itinalaga bilang Medic.
Ayon pa kay PCol Balles, si alyas “Bitoy” ay nasangkot rin sa isang ambush, at robbery sa Capoocan Leyte noong 2017, nakulong at pinalaya noong Marso 14, 2022.
Ayon pa kay PCol Balles, ang kanyang pagsuko ay napadali dahil sa pagtutulungan ng mga composite team mula sa Leyte Municipal Police Station, LPPO Provincial Intelligence Unit, Provincial Special Operation Group LPPO at 2nd Leyte Provincial Mobile Force Company.
Kasabay ng kanyang pagsuko ang pagturn-over ng isang kalibre .45 at isang magazine na may pitong live ammunition.
Mensahe ni PCol Balles, “This recent surrender is a testament to the truth that the CPP-NPA-NDF is indeed weakening. This is why we are urging those who are still in arms to surrender so they may live a better life with their families and benefit from the support of our government”.
