Tacurong City, Sultan Kudarat – Tinatayang Php150,000 halaga ng smuggled na sigarilyo ang nakumpiska ng PNP sa isinagawang Law Enforcement operation sa Barangay Poblacion, Polomolok, South Cotabato noong Setyembre 19, 2022.
Kinilala ni Police Brigadier General Jimili Macaraeg, Regional Director ng Police Regional Office 12, ang naarestong suspek na si Yusoph Totodan Ansao, 56, may asawa, at residente ng Jester Subdivision, Purok Malinawon, Barangay Poblacion, Polomolok, South Cotabato.
Ayon kay PBGen Macaraeg, nahuli ang suspek matapos itong maaktuhan ng Regional Special Operation Group (RSOG) 12, Regional Intelligence Unit 12, MAPIO-SCMSO at Polomolok Municipal Police Station na nagtitinda ng smuggled at counterfeit cigarettes.
Ayon pa kay PBGen Macaraeg, narekober rin kay Ansao ang 295 reams ng samo’t saring klase na may estimated market value na Php150,000.
Nahaharap ang suspek sa kasong paglabag sa Article 189 ng Revised Penal Code (Unfair Competition, Fraudulent Registration of Trademark, Tradename or Service Mark, Fraudulent Designation of Origin and False Description); Republic Act 7394 (Consumer Act of the Philippines); RA 8293 (Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines); at RA 1937 (An Act to Revise and Codify the Tariff and Custom Law of the Philippines).
Pinuri naman ni PBGen Macaraeg ang mga tauhan ng PRO 12 sa patuloy na pigilan at hadlangan ang mga pinapasok na mga smuggled o ilegal na sigarilyo sa buong rehiyong 12.
