Butuan City – Kalaboso ang dalawang suspek sa kasong Child Abuse sa magkahiwalay na operasyon ng Caraga PNP nito lamang Martes, Mayo 17, 2022.
Kinilala ni Police Brigadier General Romeo Caramat Jr, Regional Director ng Police Regional Office 13, ang dalawang naaresto na sina Manolita Jacinto, 75, residente ng Purok 1, Pier, Barangay Trinidad, Surigao City at Evelyn Barantes, 63, residente ng Brgy. Tigbao, Cagdianao, Dinagat Islands.
Ayon kay PBGen Caramat Jr, bandang 10:32 ng umaga nang naaresto si Jacinto sa mismong tinitirhan nito ng mga tauhan ng Surigao City Police Station sa bisa ng Warrant of Arrest sa kasong paglabag sa R.A. 7610 o Special Protection against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act.
Samantala, bandang 9:10 ng gabi naman nang maaresto si Barantes sa mismong bahay nito ng mga operatiba ng Dinagat Islands Provincial Intelligence Unit at Cagdianao Municipal Police Station sa bisa ng Warrant of Arrest sa kasong paglabag sa R.A. 7610.
“Both cases are rooted in the quarrels of their grandchildren. I want to remind parents and grandparents not to resort to violence in protecting our children and grandchildren. Remember that we have laws that protect these children from abuse, and anyone who violates such shall face the consequences of their actions,” pahayag ni PBGen Caramat.
