Pinangasiwaan ni Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief, Police General Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar ang panunumpa ng 168 bagong Police Commissioned Officers (PCO) sa ilalim ng 2021 Lateral Entry Program ng PNP.

Naging Guest of Honor and Speaker si Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Eduardo M. Año na kinatawanan ni DILG Undersecretary for Peace and Order Bernardo C. Florece Jr.

Ang mga bagong opisyal ay kinabibilangan ng apat (4) na abugado at dalawang (2) doktor na nanumpa sa ranggong Police Captain at tatanggap ng basic monthly salary na Php56,582 at iba pang benepisyo.

Ang 162 na iba pa ay mga dentists, optometrists, psychologists, nurses, pharmacists, medical technologists, radiologic technologists, chemists, nutritionists, engineers, forensic criminologists, architects, at IT officers. Tatanggap sila ng basic monthly salary na Php49,528 at iba pang benepisyo para sa ranggong Police Lieutenant.

Idedeploy sa mga Police Regional Office at National Operational Support Unit ang mga bagong opisyal.

Ayon kay PNP Chief Eleazar, nai-turn over na ang 168 PCO sa Directorate for Human Resource and Doctrine Development (DHRDD) at sasailalim sila sa Officers’ Basic Course at Field Training Program bago tuluyang i-deploy.

Ang Lateral Entry Program ay isang paraan ng pag-recruit ng Police Commissioned Officers sa PNP, bukod pa sa cadetship program ng PNP Academy.

Noong Oktubre 4, nasa 117 technical service professionals ang nanumpa rin bilang mga bagong opisyal ng PNP.
